The Fast and Furious
Well guys its been 8 years since the original gang graced the silver screen with the original Fast and Furious and now they're back in ummmm Fast and Furious. Now I don't think any of you will be too shocked if I told you that this movie sucked (I see most everything because I work at a movie theatre). Well I was never much a fan of the three previous installments of this franchise but they were all at least tolerable. This film was just unbelievably bad. First off, there was really only scene of racing and half the time what we were seeing is an animated GPS screen. Secondly, the special effects were dismal at best. I mean they were so bad I can't imagine the film would've been greenlit. We can of course see why this film got made, it was probably fairly cheap and promised big returns. This film has a large target audience teenage and young adult males and most females for the eye candy (Vin Diesel and Paul Walker). This is why the film got made. Not because its a quality piece of cinema, but because it was cheap and sure fire way of earning profit (Sort of why terrible horror movies keep sprouting up. In this week's Entertainment Weekly they gave the F & F a B+. They cited the reason for the positve review is because the film doesn't pretend to be anything else. It is what it is. In this same issue of EW the feautured columnist says that he is angry at the horrible movies that have been released recently. Like the film companies just want to release cheap garbage that is stupid and brainless. We're better than this and we deserve better films. We do want to escape from the problems we are facing but that doesn't mean we want to see brainless garbage, theres nothing wrong with seeing quality films. We'll the success of the new F & F (72 million) made me think about all the garbage thats being released and how the quality films barely get released at all. Anyway just some thoughts what do you all think.

Remember that WGA Strike from last year? I have a feeling that this is the result. Crappy movies are easy to make and apparently they make a lot of money. If we wanted only good movies, we'd be in really big trouble because they are about a dime a dozen. And remember, studios have been doing this forever. Crappy movies are just as much of Hollywood's past as the greats are. Otherwise, we wouldn't have conversations on how BAD some movies really are.
I actually did go to see the new Fast & Furious movie with my girlfriend who dragged me all the way to Randolph to see it. I read some reviews ahead of time, and I was not expecting to see a whole lot. The review that I saw essentially said that about half of the movie was a glorified rap music video. I have to say that I must agree with that sentiment. There really was not too much to take away from the movie except for the self inflicted "I told you so." It was cool to look at in some parts, but the overall just wasn't worth the money. Sort of felt like after you leave a strip club...
Ha ha yeah you feel DIRTY,its funny how there are good bad movies and bad bad movies. In my opinion F&F is a terrible bad movie. Its totally a result from the Strike but Hollywood lately has been very disappointing. All their producing are remakes and sequels, it must be getting hard to think of original stuff, unless no one cares (except a few brave peeps)
I completely agree with you. I love movies with fast cars and some intense scenes, but these were just ridiculous simply because they were so unrealistic. It's really hard to get into a movie if I have a hard time understanding how the entire concept is even possible. I would much rather take a smaller explosion, less blood & guys, and a lack of animation, over the craziness of computer graphics and as you already stated, an animated GPS screen. The real thing is simply so much better and more entertaining to watch!
Well, thank god I didn't see this movie! I was a fan of the first two even though I thought the second one was a bit, umm..trying to hard? But the effects were good (nothing like mind blowing) but good to say the least. I am finding that critics lately are either getting really critical (ha) or really like oh thats a good movie because it just is what it is. But what is worse is the actors that play the roles, do they honestly believe the movie is good? Or are they just paid off to star in the movie, promote it, and that's it. hmmm.
