The Hurt Locker

WOW!!!! What a movie!!! I implore all of you to go see it. Its the story of a bomb diffusing unit of soldiers in Iraq. Its one of those movies that stick with you for a while. For a film made with a low budget it has a very big look. The actors do a great job of conveying what war does to a human. The other thing that is exceptional about this film is its ability to keep you on the edge of your seat. The movie was more suspenseful than any movie I've ever seen. You never know which mission is going to kill the unit, which I imagine is true to life. I can't say anything negative about this film. The ending just sort of takes your breath away and throws you for a loop. I can't urge you all enough to go see this movie. Its the best movie I've seen in a long time.

I heard about this film on NPR--they liked it a lot too. I guess the opening 15 minutes hits you like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Does the film have wide distribution? Where'd you see it?

The film did not get widely distributed, I took a ride to Cambridge, the very lovely Kendall sq. theatre. I love this theatre, they do a great job of making hard to see films accesible to us film fanatics. The opening 15 mins is very effective, but the entire film stays that way, I literally was sweating and sort of holding my breath during the movie. I would love to see it again, I believe its also playing in Hingham at the new Hingham shipyard theatre starting today. Also a very nice new theatre. If you get to see it please let me know what you think!
