Little Angel, Make me Happy
This movie was soooo sad, but also beautiful. I really liked this movie and there were a couple of scenes that really stood out too me. One of them is when the little boy dies from the measles. This was heartbreaking but to make matters worse when the kind old man gives him a proper funeral the soldiers scold him for honorably burying a German. The old man explains that he's just a boy but the soldier does not care. Its heart breaking that war does this to people. The acting by the children in this movie especially by Georg, was impressive to say the least. This was a special film and I am glad to have seen it. This and Beshkempir were my favorite films from this semester,

OMG I so agree. War brings out the worst in people. It almost seemed as though the feelings of human beings are not cared about. Peopl do as they are told and continue on with their lives. It is so depressing and so sad. Also when the young boy died from the measels I shed a little tear. It made me feel like why....the young boy finally made it out of the camp and got home simply to die. It was so unfair to him and to George. Especially when Georuge tried to help him as much as possible by peeing on him. I thought it was so sad.
War is horrible. I say that now without reservations. Little Georg faces so many obstacles in this film and it's really all because the war is ripping him apart from his family. And it's funny, because this movie focuses on the emotional aspect war has on people. There's nothing too physical in it, and I think that just makes it worse.
I have to agree with what everyone else has been saying. This movie was really good, but it was also kind of heartbreaking at the same time. In terms of the conflict over the little boys burial, it just goes to show that unfortunately, war takes an emotional toll on people and makes them act in ways that are less than respectable in some cases.
This was one of those post-Soviet films that lets you up from a sleeper hold every now and again... only to reapply the pressure. Not exactly an upbeat way for us to wrap up the semester! Sorry about that...
